Course “Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery within Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Treatment”

Course Objective: To demonstrate the main theoretical and practical aspects of modern oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as the comprehensive treatment of breast cancer (BC) from the perspective of an oncoplastic surgeon. Upon completion of the course, physicians should have an understanding of the optimal principles of BC diagnosis and comprehensive treatment, know the classification and main types of surgical interventions and perioperative management of patients, observe these practices in the operating room and daily clinical practice, and be prepared to implement them in their work.

Target Audience: Surgical oncologists and plastic surgeons performing breast surgery, with clinical and surgical experience of 3–5 years or more. However, the course is also open to all physicians who hold a medical university degree.

Course Concept:

  1. The course is conducted at LISOD Hospital over 2 weeks and is designed for 10 participants.
  2. Priority is given to mammologists and surgical oncologists.
  3. The course includes a theoretical part – lectures, and a practical part – operating room work, participation in interdisciplinary tumor boards, and outpatient oncology consultations. Lectures are held both offline and online in the LISOD lecture hall.
  4. All participants are provided access to current specialized literature; therefore, please bring electronic storage devices (USB drives).
  5. At the end of the course, each participant takes an exam based on tests prepared by the instructors. Upon successful completion, participants receive official credits from the Ministry of Health.
  6. At the beginning of the course, each participant is assigned a topic for preparing a presentation. At the end of the course, a seminar is held where all participants present their topics. Therefore, please bring a computer or tablet for preparing presentations and actively working with the literature.
  7. Participants are provided with meals during the course (breakfast and lunch).
  8. Participants are required to bring changeable shoes and surgical scrubs.
